Article Numbering Rules & Allocation

Summary of the CargoBeacon part-number scheme, plus the EverTag allocation registry — the authoritative map of which number blocks are taken, reserved, or free. Use this page when creating or proposing new article numbers.

Source document: CargoBeacon Partnumber and Revision handling, rev B (2024) — internal Word document; this page transcribes the rules relevant to EverTag. On conflict, the source document wins; update this page when it revises.

The scheme

<3-digit product type><3-digit part number>-<revision> — e.g. 232203-B1 = product family 232, part 203, revision B1.

Product family (first 3 digits)

Range Meaning EverTag usage
000–899 Products (own and ODM) 230 = EverTag Tag · 232 = EverTag Station · 234 = DCMAS
900–990 Test systems developed by us —
991–995 Standard parts (off the shelf) —
996–999 Other (documents etc.) —

Part type (last 3 digits)

Series Classification
000 Top level parts — versions within product family
100 Reserved
200 Electronic parts and components (PCB articles live here)
300 Generic documents, freight etc
400 Tools
500 Mechanical parts, sub-assembly, chassis, overlays
600 Reserved
700 Software, FW, images, licenses
800 Fasteners, screws, cable ties, packaging
900 Top level kits

Revision

Form Meaning
A1–Z9 Prototype revisions (A1 = first prototype)
A–Z Released revisions

Every change affecting form, fit or function ⇒ new revision. Document prefixes (AD-, DS-, SD-, …) identify document type in front of a part number — full list in the source document.

EverTag allocation registry (electronics, 2xx series)

Platform-block convention (decided 2026-08-13): within the 2xx electronics series, the tens digit encodes the MCU-module platform and the last digit the board variant (x0 Base Std, x1 Base Bat, x2 Base WiFi, x3 Base Bat+WiFi, x4 Base Bat+Radar, x5 panel). Each platform gets a 20-number block.

Station (232 2xx)

Block Platform / use Status
232200–232219 PAN B611-1 platform — 232200–04 bases, 232210–12 LTE extensions (232205 panel slot unallocated — see note) Active (B1)
232220–232239 Raytac AN54LV-15 platform — 232220–24 bases, 232230–32 ext (232225 panel slot unallocated — see note) Proposed (ECN-23)
232240–232259 Bare-chip nRF54L15 platform — 232240–44 bases, 232245 panel, 232250–52 ext Reserved (long-term track, ECN-19)
232260–232289 Free Buffer
232290–232299 Purchased electronic parts / accessories 232290 battery (see below)

232205 / 232225 panel slots unallocated (2026-08-21)

The 232205 Station mixed-variant panel (ECN-05) was never built — Altium lacked the per-position assembly-variant support the design required. Station boards are ordered per article, one PO line each.

  • 232205 and its AN54LV mirror 232225 are unallocated. Under the platform-block convention the x5 slot stays reserved for a future Station panel article; do not reuse either number for anything else.
  • Unlike 232251 below, neither number was ever released to manufacturing, so both remain available should a real Station panel article be created later.
  • The Tag panels (230222, and 230242 in the AN54LV block) are single-article panels and are unaffected.

232250 renumbered, 232251 retired (2026-08-13)

To free the 240–259 block for the bare-chip platform:

  • Battery (EEMB LP472040F-PCM-LD + PHR-02 cable): 232250 → 232290. Update ERP/BOM and purchasing; PCB docs reference the new number with "(formerly 232250)" during transition.
  • LTE Antenna 232251 is obsolete — the LTE chip antenna (Quectel YC0001CA) is an SMD part on the extension-PCB BOM, not a separate article. The number is retired and must not be reused.

Tag nRF54 / nRF52 (230 2xx)

Block Platform / use Status
230200–230219 nRF52 legacy tags (230200/02/04/06) Legacy
230220–230239 PAN B611-1 Tag — 230220 base, 230222 panel Active (B1)
230240–230259 Raytac AN54LV-15 Tag — 230240 base, 230242 panel Proposed (ECN-23)
230260–230279 Bare-chip nRF54L15 Tag — 230260 base, 230262 panel Reserved (long-term track)
230280–230299 Free Buffer

Station sales articles (232 0xx)

A sales article is one nRF module platform in one market. The tens digit carries both, and the last digit mirrors the variant of the PAN B611-1 sibling:

Block Platform, market Articles
232001–232004 PAN B611-1, EU 232001 Std, 232002 Bat, 232003 WiFi GW, 232004 Bat WiFi GW
232010–232013 PAN B611-1, US 232010 Std, 232011 Bat, 232012 WiFi GW, 232013 Bat WiFi GW
232021–232024 Raytac AN54LV-15, EU Mirror 232001–232004. Allocated 2026-09-25, not released
232030–232033 Raytac AN54LV-15, US Mirror 232010–232013. Allocated 2026-09-25, not released
  • A PCB revision keeps its sales article. 232202 B1 and 232202 C are both 232012; a revision is development, not a new product (decided 2026-09-25).
  • A different nRF module gets new sales articles, because the regulatory marking ("Contains FCC ID / IC") follows the module fitted. One sales article therefore always means one set of marks.

Proposing a new number (checklist for humans & AI)

  1. Family: 230 Tag / 232 Station / 234 DCMAS.
  2. Part-type series: PCB or electronic part → 2xx; mechanics → 5xx; firmware → 7xx; kit → 9xx.
  3. Platform block (2xx PCBs): place the article in its module-platform block and mirror the variant digit (a Base Bat is always x1, a panel always x5).
  4. Collision check: search this registry and grep the docs for the candidate number.
  5. Never reuse a retired number (e.g. 232251).
  6. Record the allocation here (this page is the registry) and in Sales Articles if customer-facing.
