Certification & Regulatory

This section tracks certification requirements, test plans, and compliance status for the EverTag product platform.

Certification Landscape

The EverTag system spans two regulatory domains:

Domain Products Standards Scope
High-voltage safety Power Base Module (wall receptacle) UL 498, UL 1310 Mains input, transformer, fusing, insulation, Class 2 output limiting
Low-voltage / radio Connectivity Module (PCB 232200--232211) FCC Part 15, CE RED, RoHS, REACH, WEEE BLE/WiFi/LTE radio emissions, EMC, general product safety

Because the USB rail from the Power Base Module is Class 2-limited (per UL 1310), the downstream EverTag Connectivity Module PCBs remain outside the high-voltage safety domain.

Regulatory Strategy & Requirements

Detailed requirements and strategies for our target markets are documented in the following sections:

Connectivity Module Certifications (Two-Phase Strategy)

To minimize initial testing cost and risk, we are employing a Two-Phase Certification Process: * Phase 1 (Initial Launch): Base modules with BLE and WiFi (PCBs 232200, 232201, 232202, 232203). * Phase 2 (Expansions via C2PC): LTE extension (232210/232211) and 60 GHz Radar (on 232204).

Certification Standard Applicable PCBs Status
FCC (BLE) FCC Part 15 Subpart C All Phase 1 (Not started)
FCC (WiFi) FCC Part 15 Subpart C 232202, 232203 Phase 1 (Not started)
CE RED (BLE/WiFi) EU Directive 2014/53/EU All (EU market) Phase 1 (Not started)
CE EMC EN 55032 / EN 55035 All Phase 1 (Not started)
RoHS EU Directive 2011/65/EU All Phase 1 (Not started)
REACH EU Regulation 1907/2006 All Phase 1 (Not started)
WEEE EU Directive 2012/19/EU All (EU market) Phase 1 (Not started)
FCC (LTE) FCC Part 15 Subpart C 232210, 232211 Phase 2 (C2PC)
FCC (Radar) FCC Part 15.255 232204 Phase 2 (C2PC)
CE RED (LTE/Radar) EU Directive 2014/53/EU (e.g., EN 305 550 for Radar) 232203+232210/232211 (LTE), 232204 (Radar) Phase 2 (C2PC)

Modular Pre-Certifications

Key RF modules carry their own certifications, simplifying end-product testing. The certificates can be found in the Datasheets & Reference Documents page.

Module Pre-Certification End-Product Testing Still Required
PAN B611-1 (nRF54L15) FCC modular, ISED, CE RED, MIC, SRRC, RCM System-level unintentional emissions
ESP32-C5-WROOM-1 FCC, CE, IC, MIC, KC, SRRC Integration emissions testing
SIM7672E FCC modular, CE RED Antenna integration, SAR (if applicable)
Acconeer A121 FCC modular (15.255), CE RED Ground plane integration, lens compliance, spurious emissions

Power Base Module Certifications

The high-voltage base is a custom NEMA 5-15 outlet product with an integrated USB power supply. CargoBeacon AB is the product owner.

Note on US-Only Scope & Safety Features: For Phase 1, the Power Base Module is only required to be certified for sale in the United States. Additional design requirements mentioned in the specifications—such as LPS (Limited Power Source), MOOP (Means of Operator Protection), OVP (Over Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), and SCP (Short Circuit Protection)—are not separate standalone certifications. Instead, these are safety criteria and design features that are evaluated and verified by the test lab during the UL 1310 and UL 62368-1 ETL listing process.

Important Note on Certification Sequencing: The Power Base Module and the Connectivity Module operate in separate safety domains. Because the Power Base Module provides a certified Class 2-limited USB output (per UL 1310), the downstream Connectivity Module is isolated from high-voltage risks. Therefore, we do not need to complete the Power Base certification before proceeding with the Connectivity Module certifications. The Connectivity Module can be tested and certified independently using a standard off-the-shelf Class 2 USB power supply in the lab.

Certification Standard Status
UL Listing (receptacle) UL 498 Not started
UL Listing (Class 2 power) UL 1310 Not started
FCC (unintentional radiator) FCC Part 15 Subpart B (SDoC) Not started

Human Disciplines Mapped Here

This Certification tab covers the following traditional engineering disciplines (see PPAP Section 2e for the full list):

KB Discipline Name Traditional Name Scope
Functional Safety Safety Management Safety analysis (FMEA), safety manual, SIL/PLr assessment
Environmental & EMC Test Environmental test EMC test plans, climate testing, vibration, pre-compliance

The regulatory KB role grants access to this section. Compliance engineers, test lab coordinators, and safety engineers should be assigned this role.
