8. User Interface¶
8.1 Status LEDs¶
The device carries one or two addressable RGB LEDs depending on variant:
| LED | Population | Function |
|---|---|---|
| LED1 | All variants | System & Wirepas status |
| LED2 | WiFi gateway variants (232012+) | Gateway backhaul status |
LEDs are off by default (dormant mode) to keep the device discreet when installed. LEDs activate for 5 minutes after power-on or after a short button press, then return to dormant.
LED1 — System & Wirepas Status (all variants):
| Color | Pattern | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Fast blink | Self-test fault | |
| Breathing | Booting / initializing | |
| Solid | Powered, no Wirepas network | |
| Solid | Wirepas joined, no sink route | |
| Solid | Wirepas operational (sink connected) | |
| Configurable | User-controlled via Wirepas network |
LED2 — Gateway Backhaul Status (232012+ only):
| Color | Pattern | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Fast blink | Gateway fault | |
| Breathing | ESP32 OTA update in progress | |
| Breathing | WiFi connecting | |
| Solid | WiFi connected, MQTT not reached | |
| Solid | WiFi + MQTT fully connected | |
| Solid | No backhaul configured |
For the complete LED state machine and priority rules, see the UI Behavior Specification.
8.2 Service Button¶
A hidden tactile switch recessed inside the enclosure, accessible via a service pinhole on the side of the enclosure (requires a SIM-eject tool or paperclip).
| Action | Trigger | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Power on | Hold 5 seconds (from off state) | Device powers on; LEDs active for 5 min |
| Status check | Short press (< 1 s) | Activate LEDs for 5 minutes |
| Reboot | Hold ~3 seconds | System reboot |
| Factory reset | Hold while plugging in power for 10 s | All config erased, factory defaults restored |
Battery-Preserving Off State
The device ships powered off. When "off and plugged in", battery-backup variants (232011, 232013) charge the battery but do not run, preventing unnecessary battery drain.
Accidental Press Prevention
The recessed pinhole in the enclosure prevents accidental activation by end users. Factory reset additionally requires a physical power cycle while holding the button for 10 seconds.
9. Certification (Planned)¶
| Certification | Status |
|---|---|
| FCC Part 15 | Planned |
| Wirepas | Module pre-certified |
| Wi-Fi (FCC) | Module pre-certified (ESP32-C5-WROOM-1) |
10. Quick Start¶
- Plug in the Power Base Module into a standard wall outlet (Connectivity Module facing up).
- Power on the device: press and hold the service button (pinhole on enclosure side) for 5 seconds, or activate via NFC using the CB Admin app.
- Provision the device using the CB Admin app over NFC (hold phone within 2 cm of the enclosure front).
- The device joins the Wirepas Mesh network automatically once provisioned.
- Verify operation: short-press the service button (through the side pinhole) — the LED activates for 5 minutes and should glow green (Wirepas operational) if healthy.
